# What is KTU?

Canonical: https://savecet.org/what-is-ktu/

Why is CET forced to be KTU’s constituent college?

- **12 yrs** — No campus or adequate staff. Still housed in CET and staffed by CET professors.
- **0** — KTU has no NAAC accreditation or NIRF ranking. CET has A grade & a 101–150 rank.
- **53 %** — Of a B.Tech batch manages to pass across 143 colleges, 2020–24 batch.
- **33** — Colleges shut in nine years. 22,000 vacant seats that nobody wants.

> “KTU is facing a lot of shortcomings and setbacks, including in its rankings. To resolve these issues and to strengthen the KTU and CET, it was decided to make CET a constituent college of the university.”
>
> — Roji M. John, Minister for Higher Education, Kerala · 24 July 2026

## CET as constituent college =

- Owned, controlled & administered by KTU.
- CET to lose its own ranking & accreditation.
- Academics, admissions, fees, staff: in KTU’s hands.
- ₹3000+ crores of assets transferred to KTU.
